What is Reiki?
Let me tell you something: Before I started practicing, I received Reiki energy healing once a week for many years. I had amazing practitioners—and some not-so-great ones. It's super-easy to say that Reiki practitioners are just funnels for energy, but ever hang out with someone whose energy isn't for you?
Finding a practitioner you vibe with is essential. Some practitioners might say all the right things, like "light and love," etc., but are they doing the everyday work that is required for the job? I know I have to work my ass off to stay grounded. I do it for myself, as well as my clients and the people I love. The last thing you all need is my shit bleeding all over you.
Let's start with the Reiki basics, like WTF is it? Reiki is an ancient form of Japanese healing based on an omnipotent energy that gives life to every living thing. The Japanese call this energy "Ki," but it has many names. It is also known as "Chi" by the Chinese and "Prana" in a number of Asian cultures. Most of the western world refers to it as the "Holy Spirit."
I just real it down like this: Energy is in everything and it connects us all together. Think of those slow time-lapse videos where you actually watch flowers and plants breathing and moving. We all get so caught up in our own shit, we lose touch with the beauty of our divine connection to creation and to everyone around us.
Reiki helps us not only reconnect with ourselves, but also with universal Energy. It does this, in part, by balancing and aligning the Chakras so that we heal. When the energy in our own bodies is flowing as it should, we start to vibrate higher, and that's where the magic happens.
